Greg Ellis reports via Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt, that MSU head coach Sylvester Croom has hired Arkansas linebacker coach Louis Campbell to coach linebackers at Mississippi State.
There’s been no word on the fate of MSU’s former linebacker coach. It is possible that Ellis Johnson might take that coach to Arkansas.
Greg Ellis also reports that he’s hearing MSU’s new defensive coordinator will be promoted from within. Maybe its the LB coach. Maybe its someone else. This news makes me nervous as there’s nobody I know of on the defensive staff now that is particularly outstanding. Of course 4 years ago, I didn’t know who Ellis Johnson either – and he turned out to be outstanding.
Also no update on a changing of the guard at the offensive coordinator spot. Sigh.
UPDATE: The aforementioned Greg Ellis as informed me that the ex-MSU linebacker coach was Ellis Johnson. That makes sense. Thanks, Greg.

Shane, Ellis was also the linebackers coach at MSU.
I just wanted to be the first to comment. I’ve never commented on a blog before. It’s fun.!
