First off, if you don’t know what delicious is, you should. Delicious is a server that allows bookmark sharing, except that instead of bookmarks, they are really tags.

Huh? Why would you want to share bookmarks? Simple. Bookmark something at home, and with bookmark sharing, you’ll automatically have the bookmark on your home computer. Or your smartphone. Or laptop. Or whatever. See…

Tags? What’s that? OK, the most useless part of bookmarking is the stilly folder structure for saving bookmarks. Because to use any bookmark, you have to remember which folder you put it in. And if you’ve been using a computer and surfing the internet for more than a year or two, you probably have hundreds of bookmarks.

OK, back to tags. Tags are like categories. Say you want to bookmark as site like ESPN’s Dallas Cowboys page: http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/dal/dallas-cowboys Instead of “bookmarking” it, with delicious you’d “tag” it. A “tag” is like a category and the beauty of it is that you can assign multiple tags to won website. So the aforementioned website, for example, could be tagged as “football”, “nfl”, and “dallascowboys”.

Delicious has no folders, just tags. So if you want to go find that website you don’t have to remember which folder you put it in. Instead, you lookup your tagged (bookmarked) websites by tag name. Since we tagged that site with multiple names, now all you have to do is remember any one of 3 names (football, nfl, or dallascowboys) to lookup that bookmark. There’s no limit to how many tags you can give a website. “3″ was just an example here.

OK, so where am I going with this….

Firefox 4 is out. Its sleek. Its fast. Its better than previous versions. And delicious isn’t officially supported. Dammit.

BUT….an addon is available which allows you to run unsupported addons (like delicious) with Firefox 4. So if you’re like me and you’ve been holding off on FF4 due to lack of delicious support – rejoice! Download the aptly named “Add Ons” add on here and then you can add the “unsupported” delicious addon here. It seems to work just fine in FF4.
